This design-build project overhauled the existing Main Pump No. 1 (MP-1) at Drydock 1. Work included the disassembly and removal of the motor and pump, which was then refurbished including replacement of the existing motor thrust bearing assembly, alignment of the existing shaft, and replacement of related electrical appurtenances. A water-tight barrier was provided to prevent water from entering and flooding the pump room.  The existing access hatch cover was also removed and replaced.
