Fuel Receipt Area & Storage Tank
This project at Beale AFB consisted of constructing a new 10,000-barrel jet fuel (JP-8) tank, a transfer pumphouse with two 600 gallon-per-minute (GPM) pumps to provide a 1,200-GPM transfer flow rate; four (4) filter separators for off-loading receipt and for issue to the truck fillstand; two 4,400 square foot truck off-loading stations with a capacity rate at 600-GPM per truck, for a total of 1,200-GPM; and significant upgrades to the existing 1,033 square foot truck fillstand to tie it into the new pumphouse control system. In total, the size of the new fuel system is 8,920 linear feet, including the tanks, pumphouse, pig launcher, truck off-loads, and truck fill stand. The enclosed and conditioned Control Room housed the new controls systems, inclusive of a Motor Control Center (MCC), Pump Control Panel (PCP), Emergency Fuel Shutoff (EFSO), and a Fire Alarm System.
Other work included new aboveground piping from the pumphouse to the new truck off-loading stations and to the existing refueler fillstands, about 40 linear feet of piping below grade in a pipe trench where the piping crosses the road, new roadways, fencing, sidewalks, utilities, controls, a 200kW standby diesel generator, and other support features associated with the new fueling system. Also featured were metal fabrication such as containment dike stairs, EPDS stands, equipment racks, bollards, PH angles and anchor bolts, wall sleeves, fuel piping spools and pipe supports, and electrical work including interior and exterior lighting, and cathodic protection.
