GENERAL PURPOSE BERTHING WHARF Y2
The contract required the construction of a new wharf, a sandblast facility and a pilot boathouse.
The new wharf had more than 200 prestressed precast concrete production piles that ranged from 20″ square vertical piles and 20″ octagonal batter piles. Nova also installed 85 each 20″ square fender piles, prestressed precast concrete planks, and cast-in-place concrete topping wharf deck, a fender system including fender backboards and pneumatic rubber fenders, PZ-35 steel sheet piles, mooring fittings and utility service. The utility service to the wharf included electric power, low pressure and high-pressure air, potable water, saltwater fire protection, and wastewater collection.
The electrical construction included a new 12 kv electrical substation, extension of an existing 12 kv electrical switch station, a 480V electrical distribution system, area lighting, a communications system, a waste distribution system, wastewater collection and sanitary sewer system, low and high air systems, asphaltic concrete and reinforced concrete pavements, dredging and demolition of structures, and incidental related work.
The new Sandblast Facility consisted of a small craft abrasive blast and paint facility with a paint storage building, crane foundation and boat transfer system. Other components of the facility included transformers, switchboards, electrical distribution, area lighting, water distribution system, sanitary sewer system, asphaltic concrete pavement, chain-link fencing, dredging, demolition of structures and incidental related work. The single-story Pilot Boathouse Facility included relocation of existing drain line, drain inlet, manhole and asphaltic concrete pavement.
