This project, a joint venture between Nova Group and Shimmick Construction, provides a double-deck fueling pier 605-feet-long by 50-feet-wide, with two mooring dolphins located north of the pier and one mooring dolphin and one breasting dolphin south of the pier to extend its berthing length to 1,125 feet. The design includes one deep water berth on the outboard side, capable of servicing one oiler/tanker. Containment of the piping is afforded below deck. The pier includes berthing depths to support vessels with 40 foot drafts, and the pier deck is designed for a 50-ton mobile crane and 10-ton forklifts. The work also includes demolition of the existing fuel pier, dredging, relocation of marine mammal facilities, and collateral equipment.
