RECONFIGURE APRON & HYDRANT FUEL SYSTEM
Nova was awarded a contract to convert an existing hydrant system to a Type III hydrant fueling system. The project involved the construction of piping, tanks, and a new pumphouse complete with fueling equipment. The pumphouse construction also included the installation of a 12 kV electrical power system, 600kW/480V standby generator and transfer switch.
The hydrant fueling system included a direct buried fuel piping loop, with 18 hydrant fueling pits on the parking apron and four isolation pits. The 10,000 LF fuel piping loop was epoxy-lined and coated 12-inch carbon steel carrier pipe. Two above ground, 10,000 barrel API 650 aviation jet fuel storage tanks were also constructed including all associated berms and concrete work. A cathodic protection system was installed for the two storage tanks and the carbon steel fuel piping. Nova also constructed a two-bay commercial tank truck receipt facility and an aircraft refuel truck issue facility.
Nova received three quarterly Safety Awards from the Base, and was runner-up for Safety Contractor of the Year in the District.
