UPGRADE HYDRANT FUELING SYSTEM
Nova provided significant upgrades to the base’s existing hydrant fuel system, including the construction of a new 6,100-square foot pumphouse, pantograph checkout stand, two new above ground vertical 10,000 barrel API 650 aviation jet fuel tanks, and 10,000 feet of 12-inch stainless steel piping. New fuel pumping equipment, a 12 kV electrical system, 1200kW/480V standby generator, and fire alarm system were incorporated into the new pumphouse.
Welded construction methods were utilized to erect structural steel plate for the bottom, wall and roof of each tank with beams for the fixed cone roof. The tank construction included a concrete ringwall, aluminum wafer design floating plans, sand cushion and fuel-resistant flexible membrane liner, telltale piping system, and anode-type cathodic protection system with instrumentation.
Other features of the project were fiberglass hydrant fuel pits that were manufactured by Nova, pantographs, AFFF fire protection system, deep well anode cathodic protection system, area sewer and waterlines, and 4,700 feet of precast concrete trench. Nova also drained, vapor-freed, cleaned, pigged and foam-filled approximately 10,000 LF of existing 4-inch to 8-inch fuel lines.
